I was about to start this post by saying how easy this recipe is but I realize I say that about every recipe. But it is I promise! I’ve probably made brussel sprouts in the air fryer (affiliate link) about a dozen times now. It’s one of my favorite ways to whip them up and get them nice and crispy. Sometimes I eat them plain and sometimes I add bacon or balsamic glaze. Maybe even a little goat cheese when I’m feeling wild and crazy. This recipe for air fried brussel sprouts is low carb and can be made paleo and Whole30 as well!
Ingredients
For this recipe you really only need brussel sprouts and an avocado oil spray (affiliate link) and a little salt and pepper. That is what you’ll need for the most basic version of these crispy brussel sprouts. I have two main variations I use when spicing up this recipe.
Variation 1:
Adding crumbled bacon and aioli sauce for dipping. To make the aioli, I simply mix about 1/4 cup of mayo with fresh lemon juice and some salt and pepper. It’s super easy! I love using the flavored mayo from Primal Kitchen Foods (affiliate link) to add even more flavor to the sauce. The pesto mayo and the rosemary garlic are perfect for this! PS: (code BEAUTY10 gets you a discount on their website!) This variation is paleo, low carb and Whole30 complaint.
Variation 2:
Adding crumbled bacon, a balsamic glaze (I love this one from Whole Foods) and goat cheese. This version is not paleo or Whole30 compliant due to the goat cheese but it is still low carb and keto friendly.
How To Make Crispy Brussel Sprouts
I prep my brussel sprouts by cutting the ends and then splitting them in half. This saves me time during the week so I can just toss them into the air fryer (affiliate link) or oven when I’m ready to cook them. To prep the air fryer (affiliate link) itself, I spray the bottom with a little avocado oil spray (affiliate link). Once I toss the sprouts in, I spray them a little more before adding my salt and pepper.
Air fryer (affiliate link) cooking times vary so make sure to keep an eye on your sprouts but checking them after about 7-8 minutes. Some other recipes you can check out that I’ve used my air fryer (affiliate link) for are kale chips , buffalo chicken tenders, buffalo cauliflower and fish sticks! I also like to put chicken wings in there after the oven to add even more crisp!I
If you don’t have an air fryer (affiliate link) you can make these in the oven as well. I prep them pretty much the same way and then roast them at 375 for 30 minutes. Then flip and roast another 10 and they come out equally delicious. The air fryer (affiliate link) is just a lot faster.
On to the recipe!
