    Ingredients

One of the great things about homemade tortilla chips, is that it requires minimal ingredients. Just three items are needed to make this recipe.

ingredients needed to make tortilla chips in the air fryer
    • Corn Tortillas - this recipe works best with a small or medium sized corn tortilla. About 6-8 inches in diameter.
    • Avocado oil spray - I love the one from Primal Kitchen Foods. Use code "Beauty10" on their website for a discount! If you prefer you can also use olive oil.
    • Flaky salt - Sure you can use regular table salt but I gotta tell you that flaky sea salt is superior for this recipe in my opinion!
    • Optional - Juice of 1 lime

How To Make Tortilla Chips in the Air Fryer

STEP 1: Cut your tortillas into triangles. A pizza cutter works surprisingly well for this task.

STEP 2: Add your tortillas to the air fryer basket. A little overlapping is ok but you don't want the basket to be too crowded. If you're making a lot, it's best to work in batches.

STEP 3: Spray your tortillas with a little avocado oil spray, sprinkle with flaky sea salt and use your hands to toss and make sure all your tortillas get a little of the salt and oil spray. At this point, if using the lime, I also add it here.

STEP 4: Air fry your tortillas at 400 degrees for about 7 minutes. I check the basket every few minutes or so to check out the progress. All air fryers vary a bit and some of the tortilla chips air fry faster than others. If some are done before the 7 minute mark, I use tongs to remove them while the rest cook. Aim for the level of crispness you prefer.

    Variations and Modifications

    • Add taco seasoning, chili powder or chipotle powder for a little spice to your tortilla chips
    • Instead of salt, add a mixture of cinnamon and sugar for a sweet treat
    • Cut into strips instead of triangles and use as tortilla strips to add to a taco soup, tortilla soup or burrito bowl! Strips would also be great on salads!

    Frequently Asked Questions

Are tortilla chips in the air fryer healthy?

In my opinion yes! The benefit of making them in the air fryer is that you are using minimal oil and the chips are not deep fried. You can also control all the other ingredients that are added.

How do you make tortilla chips in an air fryer?

Simply cut your corn tortillas in triangles, spray with cooking spray and air fry at 400 degrees for about 8 minutes.

What's the best way to store air fryer tortilla chips?

I like to store them in a stasher bag or any other airtight container or reusable bag. I usually eat them within about 4-5 days for optimal freshness.tortilla chips made in the air fryer stored in a blue airtight container
