How To Toast Bread in the Air Fryer
STEP 1: Slice your bread to the desired thickness. I like to go just slightly thicker than your typical store bought bread, especially if I am making avocado toast. If your bread is pre-sliced, you can skip this step.
STEP 2: Add butter to your slice of bread prior to putting it in the air fryer basket for best results.
STEP 3: Place bread in a single layer in your air fryer basket. I love using these air fryer liners because they make clean up so easy.
STEP 4: Air fry at 400 degrees for 4 minutes. If you are not using butter, flip your bread halfway through to ensure the bread is toasted on both sides. You can flip it halfway through if you are using butter too if that's your preference.

Frequently Asked Questions
Anything between 375 degrees and 400 degrees will work well depending on how crispy you like your toast and the thickness of your bread.
I stick to 4 minutes for the perfect golden toast. This will depend though, on the thickness of your bread and the temperature you use to air fryer. For thicker pieces, I like to go down in temperature but air fry for a little longer and I do the opposite for thinner slices.
I love topping with avocado, pickled onions and feta for a tasty avocado toast. Or adding an egg, arugula and Canadian bacon or ham for a breakfast sandwich.
Yes! For bagels or English muffins, I simply slice in half and add to my air fryer for 3-4 minutes at 390 degrees. You can add butter beforehand as the recipe states or add whatever toppings or cream cheese to your bagel or English muffin after air frying.
Serving Suggestions
I love making toast in the air fryer particularly for avocado toast and for sandwiches! When I do this I like to use Primal Kitchen Foods mayo and then place the bread in the air fryer. Then I add arugula, egg, ham and cheese for the perfect toasty breakfast sandwich!
When making avocado toast, I add avocado, arugula mixed with olive oil and lemon and then top with an egg, pickled onions, feta and balsamic.
If you wanna spruce things up, add some marinara and a slice of cheese on top. You'll never order delivery cheesy bread again!
You can add garlic powder or minced garlic and olive oil for quick toasted garlic bread in the air fryer.
Add nut butter and Nutella for a sweeter breakfast air fryer toast!

Ingredients
- 2 slices bread of choice
- Optional - Butter
Instructions
- If using butter, spread on your bread before adding to the air fryer. I prefer to add the butter to only one side but feel free to add to both!
- Place in the air fryer and air fry for 4 minutes at 400 degrees. Flip the bread halfway through to toast both sides evenly
- Remove from air fryer and eat with a sandwich, avocado toast or just all on its own!
Notes
When making air fryer toast for a sandwhich, try buttering only one side and not flipping halfway though for a crispy sandwich on the outside and a softer sandwich on the inside.
You can add butter to your bread after removing it from the air fryer but I find adding it beforehand melts the butter into the bread that much better.

Easiest, yummiest toast I’ve ever made!! Used sourdough bread and lightly coated with avocado oil “butter” and I was mind-blown at how delicious my avocado toast was. Never going back to conventional bread toasting! Yummmmmm…
