We’re talking today about how we first got started with exercise after being 300 pounds. We know how intimidating it can be, so we’re breaking down what we did, how our experiences were different and giving you practical tips on how to find something you love too. Jen started running and working on cardio before transitioning into weight training. Bailey goes into detail about how she started by “not doing anything” until she lost the first 60 pounds, and then how she experimented to find the right workout for her.
Bailey and Jen chat about preparing and completing their half marathons, and talking about what it feels to accomplish such a physical thing after spending years of their life sitting on the sidelines. Jen discusses how exercise catapulted her into her life of health and wellness, and to becoming a Certified Personal Trainer.
We’re also talking about working out in a gym and using free weights. It can be a huge source of anxiety, and Jen gives her best advice for overcoming some of those nerves.
What’s the difference between motivation and discipline? Working out even when you don’t want to is often a choice we make, even when the motivation isn’t there. Bailey shares how her priorities haven’t been on working out lately and why, and Jen discusses how workouts need to be a part of her day so she can focus on her other priorities better.
Aside from weight loss, we touch on the health benefits of exercise and how it should be a part of a healthy lifestyle and some of the realizations about health we’ve had through Bailey’s experience in healthcare.
